Congratulations on finding StopProcrastinating.net!  This website provides procrastination help for those who need it.

Since launching in January 2010 we have helped hundreds of people beat their habit of procrastination by offering them the 21-Day Procrastination Challenge.  If you want to permanently destroy your habit of procrastination and become a successful, productive person, then see our main page and become one of the many success stories of StopProcrastinating.net!

Here are Three Quick Expert Tips on How To Stop Procrastinating:

1) “Just Get Started” — Sounds simple enough, right?  This extremely straightforward concept will almost completely eradicate the problem.  Most procrastinators don’t need help doing their tasks, they simply have a problem with getting started because they feel uncomfortable about the tasks they are avoiding. As silly as it sounds, just getting started on something can be the perfect working solution.

It all comes down to a split second decision in your mind — when it occurs to you that you should be doing something you are avoiding, you can either choose to do it now or you can choose do to it later.  Procrastinators have become masters at talking themselves out of doing it now and justifying their reasons somehow.

In order to truly beat procrastination, you must form the habit of just getting started!

2) “Just Suck It Up!” — When procrastinators face an undesirable task that they would much rather postpone, they encounter a lot of negative emotions.   This is where some tough love is needed: “Just suck it up and face the emotions you don’t like.”

Procrastinators truly need this hard-nosed approach — too often they give in to what feels good at the time and focus on short-term mood fixes.   The best thing to do is stay focused on the long-term goal not be worrying about making yourself feel better in that instant.  You just have to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

3) “Be Honest With Yourself” — Procrastinators will always come up with a way of justifying why they can easily put things off for now.  They are masters at self-deception and can actually convince themselves of things like “I’ll feel better about doing this tomorrow.”

There is no use lying to yourself.  You will feel better about getting it out of the way today, not spending another 24 hours knowing you are putting something off.

More about Procrastination…

Procrastination is not an issue of time management.  Procrastinators are usually very aware of how they manage their time and when the time comes to get the job done, which usually happens at the last minute, procrastinators can be very efficient, hard working people.

But procrastination can be a big problem because of the stress that comes with it.  And most people would agree that they could have done a better job if they didn’t put things off to the last minute.

Need Procrastination Help?

Many people procrastinate and everyone tries to overcome it, but  most end up failing immediately.  The reason is because they don’t really have an understanding of the problem, what causes it, and what to do about it.
